When I first bought it, I thought it was fantastic. Most of the components were intutive-- tasks, contacts, calendar, etc. I was salivating at the prospect of mantaining my portfolio, ideas, managing my schedules only through my PDA, not lugging my laptop to meetings, and the rest. This dream lasted a week. First, the pocket excel format could not be opened by the excel I had on my desktop. Second, dont ever suspend your device with Word running a large document. When you restart it does a "cold boot" and woosh! all your data is gone! Third, good luck if your company uses Meeting Maker and you try to get it synchronized with schedule+ and then the PDA. Fourth, if your Word document is heavily formatted good luck transferring them back and forth. Fifth, same goes for powerpoint. In short, if you want to do basic word, excel, powerpoint + standard PDA stuff, this will work-- and backup the stuff often. Otherwise get a light laptop. I just returned my Jornada today. :(

Having sworn that I have lugged my heavy notebook with all the fixins' along on a trip for the last time I was delighted with my new HP Jornada 680. Coupled with Expensable 98 and some game software I had all the tools that I needed to keep in touch via e-mail, write notes and memos, keep track of my expenses and a do just about everything for which I used the notebook. My hands are rather large yet with a little practice I have just about mastered the tiny keyboard. I don't presently need to use battery-consuming flash cards so the standard battery worked just fine for me. Probably one of the smartest purchases that I have made in several years!

I bought my Jornada about 4 months ago,and I think its the best windows ce machine on the market. Its advertized that you can install java from the CD that comes with it,but when I tryed to intall it,there wasnt any Java in the CD,I have been trying to find out if I can get it from Hewlett Packard, but nobody knows a thing about Java for Windows CE. The other thing is that the price is very high,Amazon has the best price for the Jornada, about $150.00 less,of what I payd.
