The Toshiba SD-3109 was easy to set up--it automatically detected our type of audio output (two-channel) and video format (4:3). Its rear video and audio connections were clearly labeled. The manual is easy to follow; lots of graphics make it simple to figure out how to connect in any possible configuration. my friend has the sony530, and its not fun having the sound and pic out of sync. thats why i just bought the Toshiba. the 5.1 will blow you away, and the picture quality is very good, dual tray is nice also. Remote... so so. sorry Sony, do your homework, because Toshiba certainly did.

A great DVD player for the price.

I bought the 3109 three months ago and I haven't had a problem with it yet. More importantly, I haven't had the need for something that it didn't have. TAKE NOTE: If you don't have a amplifier/receiver with 5.1 or DTS and don't need/want the two tray option, the 2109 is equally good at a much lower price. You can buy a lot of DVD's for the difference in price. In either case, you can appreciate the audio and visual quallity of the Toshiba product. They know what they are doing and deliver second to none products.

Great service from Toshiba

I received this DVD player yesterday 11/30/99 and my son tried to install it. He is not a genius at electronics. We called the Toshiba service 1-800 support line and were patiently assisted with the installation. This was extremely helpful to us. This is easy to install but if you aren't an electronic wiz, this is a very good asset. The DVD player itself seems flawless to us at this point. I would recommend it highly.

Great Bang for the Buck

This player is hands down the best value in it's class. The SD-3109 offers more features than any other in it's price range. The most usefull feature is the dual tray...you can watch two movies back to back without getting up, or use it like I do and keep your most used Audio CD in the lower tray so it's always available. I had purchased a Yamaha RV-902 (digital ready) over a year ago, and I was waiting for the right DVD player to purchase...this one was it. The 5.1 audio blows me away every time I play a DVD. You will want to see every movie you have seen on VHS just to hear the difference. The video is crystal clear with no jitters or flutters. The remote is lack luster, but it does the job. This player is highly recommended.
