Enhanced ATM DS3/E3, OC/STM1

The family of Enhanced ATM Port Adapters (ATM PA-A3-xx) form a second-generation set of single-port ATM port adapters for the Cisco 7500, 7200 and 7100 high-end routers that introduces many advanced ATM hardware and software features. These features include per-VC traffic shaping, per-VP traffic shaping, support for many ATM Services Classes (nrt-VBR, ABR, and UBR), a new high-performance SAR architecture and support for a very large number of ATM virtual connections. All of these features are based on industry specifications and standards.

The ATM PA-A3 family compliments the ATM PA-A1, a low-cost, high-performance ATM solution for the Campus and ISP POP, and the ATM CES PA (PA-A2) that provides multiservice (voice and data) integration on the Cisco 7200 for remote Enterprise WAN/MAN applications.
