Cisco uBR7246 Chassis

Cisco uBR7246 Chassis

Introduction

The Cisco uBR7246 Universal Broadband Router is two products in one chassis. The Universal Chassis contains the Broadband Subsystem and the Router Subsystem, which are described in detail below.

Product Overview

The Cisco Universal Broadband Router uBR7246 combines the functionality of the industry leading Cisco 7200 router and a head-end cable modem in one integrated platform. The uBR7246 provides cable operators with a cost-effective, scalable, and feature-rich interface between subscriber cable modems and the backbone data network. The modular architecture of the uBR7246 maximizes cable operators` investment by enabling them to support multiple network services in one platform and avoid head-end product obsolescence as subscriber modem products and technologies evolve. Cable operators have the ability to deploy a variety of services to customers, including internet access and multimedia applications, while maximizing the efficiency of their network bandwidth utilization, which in turn allows cable operators to derive higher profits from the same scarce network resources.
