@Home Network Launches New International Media Development Program

International Content Providers Take Advantage of @Home Nederland and Future International Opportunities

Redwood City, California - February 11, 1999 --@Home Network (Nasdaq: ATHM), the leading provider of broadband Internet services via the cable infrastructure, today announced that it is extending its Media Development Program to International content providers and application developers. As part of a broadband development community, participants in the program will be able to share ideas, access rollout & technical information from @Home, and learn about specific content and customized application developments.

A wide variety of content providers ranging from online gaming to digitally delivered music to electronic commerce have chosen to participate in the International Media Development Program. Initial participants include: Bertelsmann's BOL Nederland, Segasoft, Liquid Audio, Lost Boys Interactive, Nieuw Amsterdam IT group, and Bloomberg L.P.

@Home Network will provide participants with the information and guidance necessary to optimize content for its high-speed network. The program also will enable content providers to participate in a technology consortium, working with tool providers, accessing proprietary research and development, and receiving updates on the company's International launch plans and market progress.

"We are extremely pleased with the early response to the Media Development Program in the Netherlands, and we want to offer similar opportunities to leading Internet and media content providers in other territories around the world," commented John O'Farrell, @Home's senior vice president, international. "By leveraging @Home's advanced network architecture, participants who enter into license agreements in the future, will be able to increase distribution of customized broadband content both in their own country as well as internationally."

The majority of current US and Canadian content partners, such as CNN, MTV, Cnet, and USA Today, started as North American MDP affiliate participants. Just as these companies started out drawing customers to traditional media such as cable television with compelling content, the unique broadband offerings the North American MDP affiliates now deliver to the @Home service have become a defining Internet experience for many users.

"Broadband has changed the way our users interact with games on the Internet," said John Cahill, Director of European Development for SegaSoft. "We're thrilled that @Home is extending its Media Development Program internationally. It will enable us to enhance our content and extend the reach of our broadband experience as well as create new broadband applications."

Broadband: What the Internet Was Meant to Be
As the leading broadband Internet portal, @Home provides consumers with a gateway to compelling multimedia and electronic commerce offerings on the Internet. @Home's high speed backbone and distributed network architecture combined with cable modem technology offers @Home subscribers an unparalleled Internet experience. The @Home solution empowers media providers to offer rich multimedia programming by connecting directly to the @Home Network, enabling @Home users to take advantage of the most demanding multimedia Internet applications, such as streaming video and audio.

Customers experience lavish multimedia features that would drag phone connections down to a finger-drumming crawl, including: video-on-demand, near-CD-quality audio, enhanced games, and fast software downloads. @Home's "always on" connection provides users with instant access to check stock prices, sports scores or traffic updates throughout the day. As a result, @Home has generated greater page views per subscriber than are reported by the leading narrowband Internet portal companies.
