What happens when I submit my bug fix?

The Java^TM2 community source bug fix process is similar to the process followed for bugs submitted using the JDC Bugparade but there are some key differences.

The following describes the steps normally taken by a fix submitted on the community source site:

• Once you have clicked the bug submit button you will receive an email containing an incident number which is used to identify your code enhancement or fix in the evaluation stage. Please keep a copy of this number until you receive additional notification from us. This number is only known to you and the bug evaluators.

• If the fix is new and complete then a bug number is generated and the bug will be visible to other Java 2 licensees in the licensee bug pages. If a fix is a duplicate or is incomplete, it may be rejected or more information may be requested

• The bug fix is then evaluated by the development engineers responsible for that particular API and, unless problems are found, you can normally expect to see your fix in the next maintenance or upgrade release of the Java 2 Software Development Kit (J2SDK).
