It seems to be a Windows IE thing... go figure. It doesn't seem to be an issue with Netscape. What you're seeing could be caused from gamma correction. PNG supports it, the other formats don't. I didn't intend to set a target gamma, but that would most likely cause the images to appear darker. I'll look into it and see if I can find a reasonable explanation other than "It seems to be a Windows IE thing". Of course, if someone already knows, please post with a reply.
