Zend Interview An interview with the developers of Zend. Zend is a scripting engine developed by Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans (hence the name Zend). Both are members of the core development team of PHP, and wrote large portions of PHP 3.0, including the language implementation and some of the popular modules like the MySQL, Sybase and PostgreSQL modules.

Bad direction...? |

I think it is a bad idea to sell the Zend optimizer. The free software people will just have to develop another language other than PHP/Zend that will have this feature. Why not license it similary to mySQL, free for non-commercial, commercial users pay?
And why support COM objects? Why test it on Windows NT? *BSD/Linux will probaly run Zend much faster, and CORBA/MICO in my opinion is much better than any Micorsoft product. I think you are veering in a bad direction...
