SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- March 31, 1997 -- Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) today announced that recent analysis conducted by PC Meter found Yahoo!'s finance area as the most popular source for up-to-the-minute financial information on the Web. Yahoo! Finance had an audience reach of 3.1 percent -- surpassing the reach of other leading finance sites (Galt.com with 1.6 percent, DBC.com with 1.4 percent, Quote.com with 1.4 percent and CNNfn.com with 1.4 percent). The analysis was conducted by PC Meter from its most recent home-panel, Audience Ratings data to provide usage detail on specific areas of Yahoo!, such as Finance, News, Sports and Weather. Individuals can find Yahoo! Finance at http://quote.yahoo.com or through the main Yahoo! site (http://www.yahoo.com). "We've found that Yahoo! Finance draws a strong corporate user audience, as evidenced by the service's traffic peak experienced at the close of market each day," said Jeff Mallett, senior vice president of business operations at Yahoo!. "In addition, the PC Meter numbers show that Yahoo! Finance is the most popular finance resource on the Web for home users, contributing to the growth the service has had over the last several months." Yahoo! Finance traffic grew 110 percent in Q4 '96 (from Oct. 1996 to Dec. 1996) compared to main Yahoo! traffic, which grew 43 percent during the same period. "The PC Meter numbers reflect Yahoo!'s continued leadership in vertical segments such as finance on the Web," said Alan Braverman, Internet analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. "The Yahoo! finance area provides one of the best resources on the Web for individuals seeking financial and investment information."
