foXdesktop is an attempt to create a new desktop environment based
on FOX (an LGPL widget set, but foXdesktop is intended to be GPLed).
All foXdesktop applications are supposed to work together as a family,
but they should still integrate themselves into existing systems
so that the user can decide which parts of foXdesktop (s)he really needs and
is not forced to install a lot more (like GNOME and much worse KDE).
According to the UNIX philosophy each program should have a single
task and must not provide "everything in one place".
Although FOX is also available on Windows this is absolutely not necessary
for foXdesktop applications ;-)
At the moment I develop foXdesktop on my own:

All icons have been taken from the 3d_pixmaps package
made by Joerg Mertin <smurphy@solsys.org>.
Stable:
foXcontrol is foXdesktop's control center.
It is based on components and can be easily
extended this way. Components are written
using libfoXcontrol.
With libfoXcontrol you can write foXcontrol components.
But it makes even sense without foXcontrol:
You can replace your own implementation of your FOX program's
preferences dialog with a new foXcontrol component and
libfoXcontrol's FCDialog that shows it. If you decide
to make the component global then it is automagically
embedded in foXcontrol (if installed) too.
foXman is foXdesktop's man page viewer.
In spite of that you are not forced to use
it if you do not want to. You can define
which program you want to use instead.
Manually edit the FOX registry
(section ALIASES, key xman) or use
foXcontrol (the aliases component provided
by the foXcontrol-desktop package)
for this purpose.
Unstable:
foXcontrol-desktop contains foXcontrol components
you can change common settings for all FOX applications with.
foXcontrol 0.1
foXcontrol 0.1 showing aliases component 0.0.6
foXman 0.1
