SYSTEM UPGRADER - Q&A

Date posted: 4/20/98

QUESTION

Here's my system:

Intel Pentium 200 MHz with MMX Tower
64 MB RAM
6.4 GB hard drive
CD-ROM drive
17 inch monitor
56 Kbps modem
32-bit PCI soundcard
ATI All-in-Wonder Pro PCI videocard with 8 MB
Windows 95

My video card does everything: 2D, 3D, video out, video and TV in . . . but the ATI Rage Pro chipset is not supported by a lot of games. Can I add a Monster 3D video card to get the 3Dfx support, or would it interfere with my existing card?

ANSWER

You can add it. It should not interfere.

According to Diamond's site, the Monster 3D will take over when 3Dfx-supporting games are run, and let the ATI do the work otherwise.
