Intel introduces the 366 MHz mobile Celeron
posted 5/18/99

NEWS
In the wake of the Pentium III 550 introduction, the 366 MHz mobile Celeron was also introduced.

This chip and the 366 MHz Pentium II PE top the MHz curve in Intel's laptop line.

The chip is selling for US$170 in quantities of 1000.

ROB'S OPINION
We were blinded by the light of the Pentium III 550 and almost forgot about the lowly mobile Celeron.

Intel is expected to release a mobile P II "PE" at 400 MHz on the .18 micron process on June 14, along with a mobile Celeron 400 on the trusty old .25 micron process. Laptop prices will only get lower, and Intel will be ramping up mobile speeds to over 600 MHz this year.

Now, if we can only get some better 3D graphics. The ATI Rage LT Pro is the only decent mobile chip for playing 3D games.
