As the future of Cyrix is in question, Rise Technology is releasing details of its roadmap.

Rise will release a 333PR processor this summer, actually running at 225 MHz. The mP6 family of chips is expected to ramp up to 466PR by the end of the year, equating to around a 300 MHz processor. The mP6 processor is a socket 7 processor, but the forthcoming mP6 II processor will work with Intel's socket 370 interface, used now for Celerons.

ROB'S OPINION
Grasping at straws, Rise will only have a 300 MHz chip by the end of the year? How much are they going to sell it for, $5? AMD is pricing its 450 MHz K6-2 at barely over $100 today.

Rise is toast.
