The Java 2DTM API is a set of
classes for advanced 2D graphics and
imaging, encompassing line art, text, and images in a single
comprehensive model.
The API provides extensive support for image compositing and alpha
channel images, a set of classes to provide accurate color space
definition and conversion, and a rich set of display-oriented imaging
operators.

1.0 Specification available for the Java 2D API!
The Java 2D API Specification incorporates feedback received during our
API review process and from the
JavaTM 2 Beta program. The Java 2D API
in the Java 2 FCS release conforms to this 1.0 specification.
Documentation available for JPEG classes!
The JPEG classes are included with the Java 2 platform in the
com.sun.image.codec.jpeg package.
