ChompText
ChompText Applet Parameters
There are 4 parameters for the ChompText applet. Only
text is required, although it will run without any parameters.
- text
- textcolor
- bgcolor
- pause
An Explaination of the Parameters
text - The words to be eaten.
textcolor - Sets the color of the text, in hex (000000-
FFFFFF). Default is 000000 (black).
bgcolor - Sets the background color, in hex (000000-
FFFFFF). Default is FFFFFF (white).
pause - Sets time between feedings, in ms. Default is 20.
Usage
It is recommended that you leave ChompText zipped after
you download it. This way the class file and the chompani.gif
image stay together. Just set the archive attribute in your
applet tag to "ChompText.zip". This should work.
You can replace the chompani.gif file with your own image,
if you like. But keep the same file name.
Issues
These are not really bugs, just issues you should be aware of.
- Speed: On some machines (slow ones), ChompText looks weird. I tested it on a
100MHz box and ChompMan appeared as a deformed yellow blob about to keel over.
- Running multiple instances of ChompText on the same page can cause problems.
Whenever one pauses, the rest will.
- The archive attribute may not work on some web hosting services, such as this
one. This is not a problem with ChompText itself, but it does apply to it.
