Adjust the Perspective of a Photo with PhotoDraw 2000 Version 1

Photographs that are scanned in or downloaded from a digital camera often display uneven proportions on your computer screen. Typically, the photo will be wider at one end than at the opposite end. In Microsoft PhotoDraw™ 2000, it's easy to correct a photo's proportions.

Apply a Distort effect

1. In Microsoft PhotoDraw, open the picture you want to correct.
2. On the Effects menu, click Distort.
3. In the Distort gallery, do one of the following:
   • Click Perspective (Horizontal) if the left or right side of the picture is too wide.
     -Or-
     
   • Click Perspective (Vertical) if the top or bottom of the picture is too wide.
4. At the top of the workpane, click Settings.
5. Move the Amount slider until the perspective looks right to you.

At this point, you might want to crop your picture to remove excess white space. For example, if the top of the photo was too narrow, the Perspective (Vertical) effect will narrow the bottom of the photo. As a result, the white space on the left and right sides of the photo will be even:

Crop the photo

1. On the Cut Crop menu, click Crop.
2. In the Crop gallery, click the Square shape.
3. Click Stretch to Fit to fit the crop shape to your photo.
4. Drag the resize handles to make the crop shape fit the photo exactly. The excess white space should be outside the crop shape.
5. On the Crop toolbar, click Finish.
6. To fit the picture area to your photo, click Fit Picture Area to Selection on the View menu.
