Python Software Activity

The continued, free existence of Python is promoted by the contributed efforts of many people. The Python Software Activity (PSA) supports those efforts by helping to coordinate them. The PSA operates web, ftp, and email services, organizes conferences, and engages in other activities that benefit the Python user community. In order to continue, the PSA needs the membership of people who value Python.

The Python Consortium is also being formed as a way to fund work on Python by contributing members.

Member benefits

Memberships directly support the continued development of Python and the Python community. PSA member privileges include conference discounts, and access to members mailing lists.

There are two mailing lists: one for discussions among PSA members and one for announcements regarding the PSA and the resources it offers. The discussion list provides a discussion forum for Python Software Activity members only. It is intended for discussion of PSA-related events and issues, but it is also sometimes used to discuss general Python issues. The traffic volume varies but is usually low. There is very little traffic on the announcements list.

How to join

(Note that you can preregister for the next term, which starts Oct 1, rather than registering for the last month of the current term. See the registration forms for details.)

To register PSA membership, complete the on-line registration form, print the response page, and send it (via postal mail or FAX) with your payment. (If you just can't use the on-line registration form, then print a blank form and complete it by hand.)

Employees of corporate (organizational) members are entitled to all PSA member privileges, but are not listed on the PSA members page. To claim your privileges (once your organization is a member), use the on-line registration mechanism, selecting "Employee of PSA Corp Member" as the membership type. There is no need to mail or fax the form, as there is no additional payment.

Fine print

Membership is bounded by the US fiscal year (Oct 1 through Sept 30)
Individuals join at $50 per year
Corporate or organizational membership fees start at $650 per year

The PSA is carried out under the auspices of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives, a non-profit organization.
