Apple/IBM/Motorola - PowerPC G3 / 740 / 750
Real world performance of the PowerPC G3 running the Mac OS, is very similar
to that of the Pentium II running Windows 98/NT. The G3 shines ahead of the
Pentium II for image manipulation and floating point operations. In particular,
the G3 demolishes the Pentium II in most Photoshop benchmarks. Most G3 systems
shipped with 512KB of L2 cache running at half the processor speed, very similar
to the Pentium II. Some systems were available with 1MB of cache and full speed
L2 cache, if you were willing to pay for it.
