For the webmaster, It is hard to know how their web sites are performing. Just because a site is fast and responsive from your desk, doesn't mean that it is like that from around the world.
This project was started to help webmasters monitor the responsiveness of URLs on their sites (as well as their competitors) from different parts of the internet.
The agents which collect the data are located all over the world, run on different types of machines, and have various types of connections, Obviously the more agents which are collecting this information from different parts of the web the more usefull the information will be (this is how you can participate).
Here is a graph of the average response time of Yahoo's Home Page over the last 6 weeks. The blue line above the rest of the graph is the 75% percentile (3 out of every 4 people experience response this time)
