Question: Why can't I adjust the refresh rate from display property even the Windows 9x driver is properly loaded for my ASUS AGP-V6600/AGP-V6800 series graphics adapter? Answer: The driver derived from nVidia starting with version 3.62 will check the monitor model to prevent the refresh rate from being set improperly and causes display problems such as no display or other abnormal display problems. Users will have to uninstall the driver and reinstall it again to recover the display colors in such case. This problem is found to relate to monitors not supporting DDC function or occasions where the function is not detected by the driver. To correct the problem, the unknown monitor in the display property needs to be specified with the right model after the driver is installed from Display Property -> Setting -> Advanced -> Monitor -> Change. |

Question: My system built with ASUS AGP-V6600/AGP-V6800 series graphics adapter which locks up after the system restarts with driver version 3.62 installation. Is there a way to work around the problem? Answer: This problem is introduced with a feature upgrade of nVidia reference driver version 3.62. The new feature will detect the monitor model and adjust the display refresh rate with optimal setting automatically while bringing the system to an unstable condition. The problem has been fixed with driver update to version 3.68 which is available for download in the following URL. http://www.asus.com/Products/Addon/Vga/asuse/enthusiast_drv.htm#v6600 |

Question: What are the features of the Smart CD-Speed Suite developed with ASUS CDROM drives? Answer: The ASUS Smart CD-Speed Suite was designed to lower the spinning noise and extend the life of motor inside the CDROM drive by using the speed setting functions listed below. Speed button: With ASUS CD-ROM/A series drives, the speed can be tuned down by pressing the forward/back buttons on the front panel. There are four preset speeds, 38x, 32x, 24x and 8x. From the highest speed the drive supports, each preset speed is available by pressing and holding the buttons for more than one second. The BIOS will restore itself to its highest speed when the CDROM disc is ejected. Speed Setting Utility: The cdspeed.exe utility for Windows 9x is able to detect the maximum speed the drive supports and allows users to adjust the speed on their own. It is available for download from ASUS home page in the following URL. http://www.asus.com/products/addon/vga/asuse/cdrom_drv.html Adaptive Speed System: The CDROM BIOS will automatically tune down its speed in accordance with the data format written on the CDROM disc. For instance, it is not required to playback MP3-formatted music at full speed. The lowest reading speed is preset at 8x for VCD and MP3 audio CD, 6x for audio CD and 12x for copying sound tracks. |
