PHP3 Introduction
Introduction to PHP and web database interfacing with MySQL. PHP3 is an HTML-embedded scripting language allowing web developers to create dynamic, database-driven websites.

This tut helped me a lot. I had set up Apache with PHP3 support and MySql. I was a bit intimidated by the MySQL section of the PHP3 docs but this article flattened the learning curve immensely!
