Socket 5 Upgrading COMMENT From: Marcus I was looking through the system upgrader section and saw this: http://www.ugeek.com/sysup/upques138.htm The reader asks if any options exist to upgrade his current system beyond 75/133 or so. I remember from an issue of PC Gamer that another option indeed exists for those poor souls lost to Socket 5's. www.powerleap.com offers great leaps in speed for socket 5 users. I would suggest that you take a look at this option, if not for a review, to check the feasibility of it and if the price is worth it. I was once interested in that option before I bit the bullet and took the PII bandwagon. The Powerleap chips are a tad expensive, but may be the right option for the reader. Thanks, and keep up the great work on the site. UGEEK
RESPONSE Also, most upgrade chips are about US$200, no matter who makes them. Today, you can get an AMD K6-2 400 for $100, and a Super 7 motherboard for $100. So, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, I always recommend the motherboard swap.
