Microsoft words on the Alpha

COMMENT

re: Windows 2000 s x86 only

UGEEK RESPONSE

Well, I had to throw this in as it was the first notice I saw from Microsoft itself that their Alpha support is DEAD. It appears that they are abandoning Alpha entirely. This is a risky move, as they are gambling entirely on the 64-bit IA-64 platform.

Windows 2000 could have been a really cool 64-bit OS on the Alpha, but now the future rests on IA-64. Alpha will still do what it does now, but in a couple years, if Microsoft doesn't renew it's support, either Microsoft or the Alpha will suffer severely.
