THINGS TO DO
I would be glad for a bit of help! Specifically, I would like
people to see any Scheme programs you have written for GNU Robots. I
think this would be great to include in future distributions.
Some other things that need doing:
- Beta testing. Please download the latest version, test it, and
email me your comments. I'm specifically interested in problems
building on your UNIX system, errors in processing game maps,
problems in handling robot problems, suggestions, comments, other
problems.
- Write a visual programming interface for GNU Robots. I think this
would have to be written in X Windows. It shouldn't be very
difficult, but I have no programming experience with X Windows (well,
maybe a little.) Basically, the X Windows programming interface is a
code generator to create Scheme code that controls the robot.
- Port GNU Robots to a non-UNIX platform, so those users can enjoy
the game, too. Currently, GNU Robots only runs on UNIX systems.
There have been requests to have GNU Robots run on the Mac.
Stuff that people are already helping me with:
- Write an X Windows interface for GNU Robots. At least help me
animate the little robot as it wanders around the world. I have hooks
in the game engine that allow me to drop in any user interface.
Thanks to
Tom Whittock.
