IBM 4758 receives the highest FIPS 140-1 security rating ever given. The IBM 4758 has been certified under the Security Requirements For Cryptographic Modules standard at Level 4. The IBM 4758 is a state-of-the-art, tamper-responding, programmable PCI card. Specialized cryptographic electronics, a 486-class processor, memory, and random number generation are housed within a tamper-responding environment to provide a highly secure subsystem in which data processing and cryptography can be performed. This processing environment, the code-loading controls, cryptographic algorithms, and the random number generation have been certified under the FIPS 140-1 standard at level 4, the highest security rating for commercial cryptographic devices. IBM offers an application program for the Coprocessor that provides an implementation of the IBM Common Cryptographic Architecture (CCA). The CCA Support Program is available as a no-charge feature for the IBM 4758.
