Hello, splitting a name into localname and prefix seems to cause several compatibility problems in SAX and DOM. My question is: Is splitting the name legal at all if no valid namespace is given? If the nsprefix would be extracted only when a namespace is set, the problem {'', '', 'href'} != {'', 'html', 'href'} would not exist since the prefix would not be stripped off in that case. {'', '', 'href'} != {'', '', 'html:href'} best regards Stefan -- Stefan Haustein University of Dortmund Computer Science VIII www-ai.cs.uni-dortmund.de xml-dev: A list for W3C XML Developers.
