Interoperability will be the catalyst for lots of this type of app. I've helped the WfMC (http://www.wfmc.org) with their Wf-XML spec, which provides for XML-based interoperability between workflow systems. It's firmly grounded as an XML-only spec with the intent that the interoperability can be implemented over any number of transports/protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP. There's even a MIME binding for email-based interaction. Michael A. Rossi mailto:mrossi@jcals.csc.com 856-983-4400 x4911 xml-dev: A list for W3C XML Developers.
