PSI prize page

PSI hereby offers cash prizes for new factors (August 3, 1999 - August 31, 2000) of Fermat numbers Fn, for n = 12 through 22. We take the current status of factors to be as below. The prize rules are:

  • Prizes are offered for new factor(s) found before August 31, 2000
  • $100 for any new factor of a non-genuine-composite Fn; 12 <= n <= 22
  • $500 for any new factor of a genuine composite such as F14, F20, F22
  • Prize applies regardless of program or method used (i.e. you need not use PSI's software per se)
  • Extra factors do win prizes; however if you find a factor of F14 for $500, the next factor of F14 wins $100 by these rules
  • Maximum prize outlay $2000 over all winning factors (that's the whole fund)
  • PSI itself is final judge of whether a factor is new, with respect to the current status of factors
  • To report a possible prize-winning factor, email crandall@reed.edu
