SSH Secure Shell 2.4 includes several new advanced features designed to increase ease-of-use and functionality for end users.
- RSA SecurID (Unix and Windows) - This feature offers a comprehensive range of authenticator options including hardware and software tokens for Palm Computing.
- Kerberos 5 (Unix) - This network authentication protocol developed by MIT is used to provide strong authentication for client/server systems.
- PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module) (Unix) - PAM is the de facto standard for single sign-on authentication services for Linux and Solaris platforms. PAM allows system administrators to maintain a flexible security policy management.
- SSH2, SFTP2, SCP2 and SSH-KEYGEN2 command line tools (Windows) - These tools help manage the Secure Shell systems with fast non-graphical interface
- Configurable connection profiles (Windows) - This system allows Windows client users to store each used connection as an easy-to-use "bookmark" and configure the settings separately.
- Configurable Windows client menus and toolbars (Windows) - User can "redesign" the toolbars and menus by dragging and dropping them to a new location.
- Backwards compatibility (Windows) - SSH Secure Shell 2.4
offers improved interoperability with previous versions of the
software for importing old configurations into current profiles, as
well as compatibility with VT test, version 1 protocol support for
port forwarding and public key authentication.
SSH Secure Shell
SSH Secure Shell is the de facto standard for remote logins, with an estimated three million users in 80 countries. It solves the most important security problem on the Internet: hackers stealing
passwords. Typical applications include remote system administration,
file transfers, and access to corporate resources over the Internet.
The SSH Secure Shell is based on the modern, secure Secure Shell
version 2 protocol. Please check out the HOWTO for instructions on how
to install and configure your server so that it supports both version
1 and version 2 transparently.
SSH Communications Security considers the version 1 protocol deprecated and does not recommend the
use of it.
