PersonalJava™ technology is a software environment that brings the power of
Java™ technology to personal, consumer, and mobile devices. Based on Sun's
Java application environment, PersonalJava technology is enabling
network-connectable devices such as web phones, digital set-top boxes,
personal digital assistants, car navigation systems, and other devices
requiring near-desktop graphics capabilities. These devices will connect to a
range of information sources on the World Wide Web or other network.
With PersonalJava technology, the device can seamlessly and dynamically load
and run new applications and content after it has been acquired by the
end-user.
Because PersonalJava technology is available on most commercial embedded
operating systems used in consumer products running on most microprocessors,
less time is spent porting, testing, and tuning so that more time can be spent
developing new product features.
