Example of user interface
|
The Personal Applications Mail client is a messaging client designed
for the emerging generation of Internet-connected consumer devices.
The application provides access to messaging services via an API, as
well as providing an interface for accessing mailboxes and message
creation, editing, and deletion. This product is designed to take
advantage of all the capabilities inherent in smart phones, including
e-mail via various transports (SMTP, POP3, IMAP4),
synchronization of messages and mailboxes, and incoming mail
notification. The mail client also supports various attachment types,
including vCard (contacts), iCalendar (appointments), GIF, JPEG, HTML,
and text.
The user interface can also be tailored
to the special requirements of other types of consumer devices,
including set-top boxes and car navigation systems. As with all
Personal Applications software, its functionality can be extended and upgraded at design time by the manufacturer or over the network by the device user.
