Ah, here we go again. Capcom the kings of the fighting game market return again with another arcade port. This time it's Marvel vs. Capcom. Now I know what you're thinking... "Oh wonderful here's another butchered arcade port of Capcom's vs. series"

Well guess what people? You're absolutely right :) No tag team (except "Cross Over Mode" which doesn't count) and missing animation frames (hey the psx doesn't have alot of ram you know).

When you get to the character selection screen you get to choose your main fighter (just like all the other psx ports) and then the second fighter. However you can either choose Normal Hero's or Special Hero's. Normal Hero's are the ones on the Character Selection Screen. Special Hero's are 3rd character that you could pick in the arcade along with your partener. This time though instead of the speedy random selector you can manually pick who you want. I'm sure a lot of people by now are pretty pissed off reading about this :) But hey it gets worse. Some animation frames are missing too. You can really notice it when you pull off your Special Combo and the background changes. It just doesn't have that drastic effect. Too bad :(

On the plus side there's an illustration gallery that you can look at once you finish the game with different characaters. There's also a variety of secret characters to select from within the game. As far as the sound dept. goes, the music and voices are completely crisp and clear. Controlling wise the game feels the same as the arcade.

Even though Marvel vs. Capcom has its flaws overall it is still fun to play. I know it doesn't compare to the Dreamcast version yet alone the arcade version...but if you look at Marvel vs. Capcom as a game of it's own it's worth playing...even if it's only worth a rental. -Uematsu
