PyQt/PyKDE: Development Tools for Qt and KDE Libraries

PyQt is a set of Python bindings for the Qt toolkit. The bindings are implemented as a single Python module qt. They support Qt versions 1.42 to 2.1.1.

PyKDE is a set of Python bindings for the KDE toolkit. PyQt must also be installed. The bindings are implemented as a number of Python modules corresponding to the names of the separate KDE libraries, i.e. kdecore, kdeui, kfm, kfile, khtmlw and kspell. They support all KDE version 1 releases.

SIP is a tool for generating Python bindings for C++ class libraries. It includes a run-time library that must also be installed.

• 28 July 2000 Thanks to the generosity of Andy Anderson and all at Mechanical Dynamics Inc and Trolltech (with a bit of help from Boudewijn Rempt) I now have a Windows development environment and a Windows Qt license so I will now be able to support and freely distribute a Windows version of PyQt.
• 26 May 2000 SunWorld have published a tutorial covering PyQt, Qt 2.x and Python 1.6 written by Boudewijn Rempt and Cameron Laird here.
• 18 May 2000 SIP v0.12, PyQt v0.12 and PyKDE v0.12 released.
