Meet Rich Tennant...

Internationally known for his byte-ing humor, Rich Tennant doesn't consider himself a computer guru. Thus, in 1981, he created The 5th Wave to relate to the average user struggling with mainframe mechanical problems. Today, hecontinues to focus his panel on the way people interact with computers instead of on the computers themselves.

Rich has been the weekly editorial cartoonist for Computerworld and Federal Computer Week since 1977. The 5th Wave appears regularly in PC Magazine, Computer Currents, Connect-Time, Family PC and in more than 100 corporate publications across the country, and in more than 10 countries overseas. From Digital Equipment to Intel to Apple, dozens of companies buy his cartoons for promotion pieces and employee incentives.

Along with syndicating his series in corporate publications. Tennant is the resident cartoonist for the best-selling ...for Dummies series of computer books. He is the author of two paperback collections, one of which has gone into five printings with German and Dutch translations.

A native of Chicago, Tennant moved to Boston 21 years ago to study jazz piano. Don't even ask how he ended up becoming a computer cartoonist. He currently resides in Rockport, Mass., with his wife and two pianos.
