projects Half-Life combines great storytelling in the tradition of Stephen King with intense action and advanced technology to create a frighteningly realistic world where players need to think smart to survive. Since its release in November 1998, Half-Life has won more than 50 Game of the Year awards from publications around the world, including Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, and CNET's Gamecenter. Half-Life was named Best PC Game Ever in the November 1999 issue of PC Gamer, and also won seven 1999 Spotlight awards, including 'Best PC Game' and 'Best of Show', from the professional game development community. Team Fortress Classic (TFC) is the team-based multiplayer add-on to Half-Life that has become one of the most popular action games on the Internet. In TFC, each player assumes one of nine roles, or classes, such as medic, soldier, or engineer, and then joins with other teammates or clanmates online to match wits and skills against opposing teams. Each class has unique weapons, items, abilities, and styles of play. Team Fortress Classic is included free with the Half-Life Game of the Year Edition and is also available as a free download over the Internet. Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms is Valve's upcoming multiplayer game that blends role-based action with the social camaraderie found in classic war movies. In TF2, players choose from 12 unique roles and work together in teams to accomplish a variety of missions and campaigns.
