This working draft defines a new XHTML document type that is based solely upon the module framework defined in the Building XHTML Modules Working Draft with the modules defined in the Modularization of XHTML Working Draft. This document type is to serve as the basis for future extended XHTML family document types, providing a consistent, forward looking document type (read: not backwards-compatible) that will provide a clean separation from the deprecated, legacy functionality of HTML 4.0.
