What is XML Script ?
XML Script is used to describe the transformation of data. If you have been struggling with XSL, then you will find XML Script easier to read, quicker to write, and much more flexible. Read why we think so.
XML Script is encoded in XML. If you are unsure about XML, check out www.xml.com, but if you can't be bothered, don't worry. XML is easy - it's just like HTML but you make up your own tags.

Free PalmPilot and ICE apps
XMLscript.org is offering free downloads of PalmPilot applications, designed to take address book and contact data from your PalmPilot, put it into XML format and run various searches on it, or output it in different formats. See here for more details, and here to download the PalmPilot applications.

In addition, we have a suite of scripts that demonstrate XML Script's handling of ICE, the Information and Content Exchange protocol that has been submitted to the W3C. The scripts handle simple subscriber requests and syndicator responses. There is more detailed information available, and you can download the suite of scripts.

XML Script processors

XML Scripts can be run on an enterprise-strength server, X-Stream, or from the command-line using the X-Tract XML Script processor.
X-Tract is quicker to install than Perl, and easier to use than Java... and you can download it for free.
X-Tract uses the LT-XML API built by the Language Technology Group of Edinburgh University. This provides a fully featured, validating, parser which conforms to version 1.0 of the W3C XML specification.
