McNealy hits Microsoft for complicated OS

Sun Microsystems Chairman Scott McNealy, well-known as a Microsoft antagonist, preached a stern anti-Windows sermon during his COMDEX keynote. Along the way, he lashed out at Windows' entanglements and wished for a world where complicated explanations of the operating system did not exist. "Everybody is fearful of Y2K," McNealy said. "But W2K and O2K--Windows 2000 and Office 2000 -- will cause a lot more problems." > DAILY article

Thoman, Brown describe technology of future

During their shared keynote yesterday, Xerox president and CEO Rick Thoman and Xerox chief scientist John Seeley Brown dramatically demonstrated how seemingly unexciting printing technology is actually way out on the cutting edge. Examples included highly compressed vertical cavity lasers and a "polybot" that will form the nucleus of future printing systems that will able to diagnose and repair themselves. > DAILY article
