  The xml.apache.org project operates as an Official Project under the Apache umbrella. It abides by the same principles and operating procedures as the parent organization.

  IBM provided the initial code base for Xerces (Java, C++, and Perl versions), as well as ongoing support for this and other Apache projects (e.g. the Apache HTTP server).

  Lotus provided the initial code base for Xalan (Java and C++ versions).
