Java 3DTM Now Available for SGI IRIX® Platform
SGI has made available a developer release of the Java 3D API, version 1.1.1,
based on the Java 2 SDK, v 1.2.1. This now enables customers with SGI IRIX
systems to develop and execute JavaTM programs written with the Java 3D API. This software can be used with IRIX® 6.2 through 6.5.
HP Licenses the Java 3DTM API!
Sun Microsystems, Inc. signed a licensing agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company
to port Java 3DTM technology to HP-UX, bringing the API one step closer to
platform ubiquity.
Java 3D 1.1.2 is shipping on HPU and version 1.1.3 is shipping on HUPX.

Java 3DTM 1.1.3 API Released!
The Java 3DTM 1.1 API is a set of classes for
writing three-dimensional graphics applications and 3D applets. It gives
developers high level constructs for creating and manipulating 3D
geometry and for constructing the structures used in rendering that geometry. The Java 3D 1.1.3 API maintenance release includes new geometry compression utilities and an updated Direct3D beta release. More details can be found in the README included with the product. Remember, before installing Java 3D you will first need to install the JavaTM 2 environment.
Java 3DTM API Tutorial
- Now includes chapter on Textures.
