Big Brother is possibly the coolest-looking network
monitoring program ever. With it showing on a
screen in front of you, you aren't just a humble systems
administrator for (say) some little telephone company in
Cloverdale, Ind. No way! You're in the engine room of
the starship Nobelprise, and *OH NO!* That red light! The
cooling system in pile four is blocked! And the Klongins are
attacking and the Captain needs Warp Five right away!
Do you think I'm kidding? Big Brother can make you feel like
a starship engineer or a mind-control guru at the future
equivalent of the KGB or something like that. Your boss will
love it too. He or she can play Captain Kirk to your Scotty.
Fun aside, Big Brother is a full-featured, real-life network
monitoring program that will help you do your job more
efficiently. It can page you when you're away from your
workspace, so you'll know about network problems as soon as
they happen, no matter where you are, without waiting for
someone to call you and tell you about them.
