Title: Network Security Engineer/Vulnerability Analyst

Securify is looking for someone with an intense interest in the details of network security vulnerabilities to help provide our clients with state of the art defense against the exploitation of such vulnerabilities. This position involves doing applied security research based on the latest information from PacketStorm, Securify's consulting staff and other diverse sources to produce up-to-the-minute tools and documentation that will help our clients understand the implications of and mitigate the consequences of the latest network security exploits.

Primary Duties:
Filter the sources of real-time news about new security exploits, including PacketStorm, BUGTraq, SANS, CERT, vendor support mailing lists and so forth looking for important newly discovered exploits. Translate information about such exploits into tools that can detect the presence of the underlying problem that the exploit depends upon. Research and document the fixes required to mitigate the underlying problem. Create test scenarios to demonstrate the exploit, the detection tool and the fix. Write documentation about the problem and the fix that is suitable for clients and end users with only moderate levels of sophistication about networking and security issues.

Required Skills and Education:
Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or a related discipline with a concentration in networking or security preferred. Extensive experience with TCP/IP networking required. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of socket level programming, including experience writing network applications in C. Experience with UNIX shell scripting and at least one of the major scripting languages (perl, TCL, ...) is required. Experience with network security tools such as scanners, sniffers, firewalls and intrusion detection systems is also excellent background for this position. Practical experience with a wide variety of system platforms, including commercial versions of UNIX, Microsoft Windows and NT, Linux and BSD Unix is highly desirable. Good written and oral communication skills are required.
