Patches and New -current Tree
|
| |
|
A new slackware-current tree has been formed on the ftp server.
Also, for the first time, we're separating patches from the original distribution tree of each version. Some patches have been released in /patches under the slackware-7.0 tree.
Please note that two of these patches are security upgrades; you should definitely check these out. More details will be posted to the mailing lists soon. |

Taking a stroll through the mirrors on our (short) list, we found a handful that had the full 7.0 tree. Those are now listed in the Get Slack section. We've also added a mirrors@slackware.com email address. If you have a mirror and want us to list it, mail us there and we'll check it out. Please, please take a look at the Contact section for details; there are some. |

Report a mirror from the Contact section.
Check the Get Slack section for mirrors we know of.

The fun never ends! Patrick set up his laptop and we hacked up a trade show page for you. As of now it's just pictures of the show (we'll upload new ones as we take them), but maybe we'll get a webcam up or something next time. Twenty minutes til the Slashdot installation race... |

Slackware Linux 7.0 is out of beta and ready to roll! Now based on
glibc-2.1.2 and the 2.2.13 (final) kernel, 7.0 is another impressive upgrade.
The new features include (but are not limited to) XFree86 3.3.5, KDE 1.1.2,
October Gnome, and a ton of new setup coolness. Of course, you'll want
a CD set from Walnut Creek CD-ROM,
or maybe a downloaded copy from the Get Slack page.
(A note on the version number jump, for the curious.) |

www.slackware.com has just received its first official overhaul and reconstruction. Painstakingly handcrafted from authentic slack by webmasters trained in the art of PHP-fu at a Secret Ninja Training Room deep below the Slackware East Coast Headquarters, the new www.slackware.com now sports:
- A FAQ database of doom
- A stylin' new Forum
- A site search feature
- ...and new colors! (now black on white!)
