Enhanced ATM T1/E1 IMA

Inverse Multiplexing ATM (IMA) brings ATM service to the reach of smaller offices and remote locations. These port adapters are members of the PA-A3 enhanced ATM port adapter family (see the description for Enhanced ATM DS3/E3, OC3/STM1 port adapters) but provide the additional capability to use IMA technology to group multiple T1 or E1 links together to form a single logical ATM transmission trunk.

• Eight T1 or E1 ports with IMA (ATM Forum Version 1.0)

• T1 and E1 ATM UNI support

• Up to 4096 total virtual connections (open VCs)

• IMA mixed-mode operation supported (IMA groups + T1/E1 ATM UNI ports combined on the same interface)

• ATM adaptation layer 5 (AAL5) for data traffic

• Traffic shaping on a per-VC basis

• Non-real time variable bit rate (nrt-VBR), unspecified bit rate (UBR), and available bit rate (ABR) Quality of Service (QoS)

• Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) cells

• UNI signaling
