Pin Map Multiviewer Domain
(Software: Applet)
|
The Pin Map Virtual Community or Multiviewer Domain combines interactive activities with banner ads. Site users can input their name and place a symbol for their hometown on a virtual map of the world. They can then watch in real time as others around the world add pins to the map. All the while, a series of banner ads may be cycling through on the page. As viewers use the virtual map, their interest may be sparked by the contents of one of the banner ads. -kw-

Metropolitain v2
(Software: Applet)
|
You want to know how to go from your hotel to the railway station with the subway in an unfamiliar city? Want to know how long it will take as well as the best route (without knowing the speed of each line)?
This applet lets you see the whole subway map; just move your mouse over the map and the name of the station pops up. You can choose your departure and arrival stations in many different user-friendly ways:double-click, pick from a list or drag&drop.
The applet then displays the best route with travel times and directions (which lines to use, where to change line, etc.). And it needs less than 3 seconds to answer you. No more wasted time waiting for a server to send your answer: the applet does the job and answers immediately.

The applet lets you plot geographical information on a world map. Then it enables you to analyse many of the features of the global plots you have created. You can either query the biodiversity databases we have provided, or you can create and edit your own data very easily. If you have a database which includes longitude and latitude coordinates you can easily connect it to the program.

Handy!

ProofIt Applet
(Software: Applet)
|
An online Ad proofing applet. ProofIt allows a client to view and comment on an advertisement under construction over the web, saving thousands in printing costs PER ad. This implementation uses a c++ cgi, and a java socket server to save the comments over the network. It also allows one to view the comments of prior users (but not alter them). Sorry, I cannot release sourceCode at this time though you can email me (mcclain@minn.net) and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. This is more importantly an example of file IO over a network.Oh, and i haven't bulletproofed the cgi quite yet, so be sure to fill in the form completely... :)
