Because you ask, we must answer...

Does ChipGeek sell microprocessors?
No. Not yet, anyway.

Why does ChipGeek exist?
ChipGeek exists specifically to fill the needs of people interested in microprocessors. To this end, we have a variety of information available to you as follows:

- Processor Update daily blurbs on the state of the microprocessor market
- Processor News updates as processor news is covered by the main UGeek site
- The Overclocking Hall of Fame to reward those that have put in the time and effort
- Processor Specs to let you know all you need to about all types of processors
- Chipset Specs giving you the lowdown on all the popular chipsets
- Overclocking FAQ providing simple guidelines for overclocking
- Chip Links so that you can find other chip sites out there
- Chip Mini-Glossary to look up those hard to find terms
- ChipGeek Newsletter to keep you informed even if you don't show up

You list prices for some processors that are pretty low / high sometimes, what gives?
The prices listed are prices for processors are in quantities of 10,000 - as sold to distributors. The prices can be used as a general guideline, but are generally lower than what you will actually pay for them. Also, we don't take shortages into account. Shortages drive up chip prices for hot processors. You may be wondering, "Well, what the hell do you guys provide these prices for?" They are a useful general guidline, and a point of curiosity for many. That's why we provide the info.

Why aren't prices listed for SGI, PowerPC, etc.?
For the most part, these prices are much harder to get, and often less interesting. x86 chips are commodity chips and are sold all over the place.

How often are these tables updated?
Some tables are updated more often than others, but we try to keep stuff as up to date as we can. If you notice something is outdated, go back to the main processor page and click on the E-mail link to send us some mail. We promise to thank you politely and update the section as needed.
