Delivered on horseback
posted 7/7/99

NEWS
As a result of being legally barred from sending unsolicited e-mails to Intel employees, Ken Hamidi, an ex-Intel engineer, showed up at Intel's headquarters on horseback wearing western gear and hand delivered a floppy disk containing his latest message.

Since his firing back in 1992 Ken has taken it upon himself to let employees of Intel know all about the negative pieces of the corporation by sending unsolicited e-mails to Intel workers and running a website called FACE Intel.

For more information on his latest delivery go to http://www.intelhamidi.com/.

JOEL'S OPINION
Ken Hamidi has constantly been in the news because of his battle with Intel. For a long time now Intel has been trying to stop him from sending e-mails to its workers, and every time Ken figures out another way in. Finally, Intel has won, winning a ruling that bans Ken from sending e-mails to Intel. As a result of the ruling Ken has filed an appeal (see http://www.intelhamidi.com/developments.htm).

His biggest beef right now is that Intel has no right to stop him from sending e-mails and that the Supreme Court has no right to stop him either. He proudly states that it is part of the Freedom of Speech act and that no one has a right to censor that.

I think he's on the money but I do think that riding horseback to deliver the latest message was more of a PR stunt than anything else. Definitely a good move, though. Now his case will get even more publicity than it ever has before, especially at a time when everyone is weary of the "Junk" e-mails that they receive in their e-mail boxes daily.

Here are two of my favorite quotes:

"I will deliver my e-mails, one way or another. As long as it is legal and I am peacefully exercising my constitutional rights!"

"I would rather die as a free man than being slave to Intel."

What do you think about Ken's fight against Intel? If you have a picture of him riding horseback, send it in to newsresponses@ugeek.com.
