How do I transfer my VisualRoute license to another system or I if I have re-installed VisualRoute?
|
Download the VisualRoute software and install. In the splash screen that appears when you launch VisualRoute, enter your current License Key in the License box, and press Enter, which will present a 'Transfer' button option. Select Transfer, and you will see a form where you should enter your current License Key and Registration number, and email address. Your new License key will then be forwarded by email. If you have any problems please contact our customer support.

'Unable to locate system class: xyz' error messages
|
Some customers are reporting the error message
Unable to locate system class: com/ms/lang/Delegate the
first time VisualRoute is run.
For some reason, the installed Java VM is missing the specified
system file(s). Reinstalling the Java VM should reinstall these system files and resolve this problem.

Does the VisualRoute edit box support copy/paste?
|
Yes. Use ctrl-c for copy and ctrl-v for paste.

How do I install Java support?
|

Does VisualRoute support the Netscape Java VM?
|
Netscape Navigator currently supports the running of Java applets, but not
Java applications. Because VisualRoute is a Java application, Netscape
first needs to add support for Java applications before we can support
their Java VM. Please see the question above for details on how to install
Java support.

Does VisualRoute support proxy servers?
|
If you are using the Microsoft Java VM, no, not yet. Proxy support is
built into Java, but the Microsoft Java VM currently does not support
this feature. Microsoft has stated that future versions of their Java
VM will provide proxy support.
However, please note that most of VisualRoute will work without proxy
support provided that your firewall does not block ICMP packets (ICMP is
a protocol that can not be proxied). Please refer to the following question
on firewalls for more information.

Will VisualRoute work through my firewall?
|
This depends upon how your firewall is configured. Please ask your network
administrator if your firewall is configured to allow PING and TRACERT to
work (which use ICMP ECHO packets). You can test this yourself by running
these programs on your computer (For example, try 'ping www.visualroute.com').
If these programs work, VisualRoute should work just fine on your computer.
Otherwise, your firewall will have to be reconfigured by your network
administrator before you can use VisualRoute.
VisualRoute also uses port 43 to connect to WHOIS servers, so that port
should be opened up as well if you want to obtain WHOIS information.

How do I remove existing IP/URL addresses?
|
Highlight the particular IP/URL address with the mouse and press the delete button on your keyboard.

Can I use VisualRoute if I have Wingate as a server?
|
Wingate does not allow ICMP pings, so VisualRoute will not work for you unless you run it on the Wingate server.
Or, run VisualRoute Server outside the firewall and use a browser to connect to the server.

How do I add my own map data and locations?
|

Do I need a new License key when I upgrade?
|
No, not if you are running VisualRoute 2.1 or later--You can upgrade and
still use your previous License key.
Otherwise, when you upgrade to version 3.2c or later, a "Transfer License" button
will appear that will allow you to generate a new License key.

Does VisualRoute support Netscape Messenger?
|
When VisualRoute launches mail (for example, when you click on an e-mail
address in a popup whois window), VisualRoute asks Windows to launch your
mail program. In order for Windows to launch Netscape Messenger, Messenger
must be configured as the default MAPI mail client.
To enable this in Communicator 4.x, click
on Edit / Preferences / Mail & Groups / Mail Server / More Options, and
check the box marked "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications"
