Mortar features effective site management of HTML files in a
Mortar project that lets you visually organize your entire
Web site in a
tree-like structure by file links, images
or in a directory display.
You can quickly view and
modify any file, allowing you to keep track of all of the
resources used on your Web site.
One of the greatest features of Mortar is its compiler. The
compiler was built with site maintenance in mind. Nearly
every web site uses common elements
over and over again such as address footers or text
links for example.
The file that the compiler uses is separate from your
regular HTML documents. This is called the "common" file. In
this file is where you would keep any
common elements in your web site such as the address
footer. The advantage is that if you need to change the
phone number on your web site, you can
simply make the change once in the "common" file, and
the compiler will make the appropriate changes throughout
the entire web site.
Mortar offers a full-featured visual Image Map Editor for
producing Client-Side image maps. With full support for
viewing and editing GIF, JPEG, BMP and the
new PNG formats, and the ability to modify and save
images with newer extensions, Mortar's Image Map Editor lets
you easily control image attributes, grid
spacing, script procedures and more.
You can download entire sites or specific portions of sites
using the Site Grabber, and store the content files (text,
images or special features such as
movies and Java classes) in your own Mortar project.
The process of maintaining large and complex sites is
greatly simplified with Mortar's Site Mapper. The Site
Mapper provides a graphical display of the entire
set of documents that make up your Web site, with your
errors noted. Mortar's HTML Verifier checks the accuracy of
tags and code, making it easy for
programmers to track down missing links or other common
errors.
Mortar's powerful multi-file search and replace allows you
to search for an element in numerous documents, and replace
all occurrences with just one action.
