Can
you give me an example of JITI Builder for Microsoft Office used in an
enterprise setting? Introducing John Alvarez: John is a Senior Research Assistant for Attorney Lisa Simberk at the Law Offices of Hiawatha Island and Partners, LLC. John and Lisa are handling the sale of a large tract of industrially zoned land that is polluted with hazardous waste from previous owners. This complicated case requires substantial research to ensure all parties are in compliance with all applicable laws. In doing research, John performs searches of his companys intranet. Since all documents at the firm are required to use JITI Builder, John quickly finds details on three other cases the firm handled three years earlier at a different location. In his search, John used keywords such as pollution, hazardous waste, and real estate sales among others. This information was quickly passed on to Lisa. Lisa directs John to create a document describing their progress to date on the project for the partners of the law firm. John uses Microsoft Office to create his document, then saves it and exits Word. Following company policy, he now opens JITI Builder and selects the document he just created. Under keywords, John enters pollution, hazardous waste, real estate sales, deeds, covenants and fifteen or so other relevant key words from his document into the key words field. In the Document Description field, John enters a quick abstract about the whole project. He then proceeds to Step 2 after running spell check In the title field of Step 2, John enters Status of property sale of 200 Industrial Place. In the author field, John enters his own name. John enters Concord, New Hampshire as the office, because that is the office from which he is working. John enters Law Offices of Hiawatha Island and Partners, LLC as the publisher. In this example, the owner of the document is Lisa Simberk, Johns boss, because she gave direction to create it. In the Document Subject section, John enters the topics contained in this progress report. John runs spell check on the Document Subject field. John selects en-us as his Language choice. John then selects General Partners as his Destination, because this document is directed to the General Partners for their monthly project review meeting. Under Category, Real Estate Sale is chosen and under client, John selects JITI Builder Reality Trust, the law firms client in this land sale John the selects Next and proceeds to Step 3. After clicking Check Properties and reviewing the results, John selects Update to update the document, and then clicks Exit. Though it did take a few minutes to update the document with JITI Builder, the time spend was small in relation to the time spent creating and editing the original document. The new Meta properties supplied by JITI Builder will make searching for information in this in the future much easier. ** This Example uses very simplistic metadata but you can imagine what is possible with a controlled vocabulary and an advanced custom schema (Microsoft Office has the facility for both of these items and JITI Builder takes advantage of them!) . Using this product along with a fielded search engine, Like Microsoft Site Server can yield remarkable results!
